Book Review: Mortified: Real Words. Real People. Real Pathetic.
While browsing through Borders the other day, I picked up a book called Mortified: Real Words. Real People. Real Pathetic. by David Nadelberg. I had heard of this book before (not sure where), but was interested in reading it, mostly because I’m a sucker for a cool-looking book cover.
Growing up, many of us kept a journal. I have a journal I started when I was around 16 years old and looking back on it, it’s pretty funny to read. Well, the author of this book took that idea and published a book of journal entries from various people that were willing to share their teenage thoughts with the world.
I read this book in one night and found it to be funny and so true. As teenagers, our minds were full of curiosity and we often wondered if we were freaks for thinking the way we did. This book shows the innermost thoughts of how we were as children just about to discover what life really was. From crushes, to bullies, to thoughts about sex, this book covers quite a few secrets the authors were daring enough to share.
I would definitely recommend picking up this book because it is an interesting read and so many of us can relate to how these adults were in their teenage years.
