Battle Royale by Koushun Takami
My favorite book of all time is The Long Walk by Richard Bachman (Stephen King). It’s number 1 on my list and always will be. I think may have found Favorite book #2.
I just finished reading an awesome book called Battle Royale by Koushun Takami. Stephen King did a short write-up of it in Entertainment Weekly and I was curious to read it because I liked The Long Walk so much. Let me just say, if you don’t like blood and violence and all that nasty stuff, this book isn’t for you. It is also over 600 pages, but it was so good I managed to finish it in 3 days, stopping only because I had to work and sleep.
The plot of it is simple: A high school class is abducted and put on an island and they have one goal: Only one student (out of 42) may be left alive at the end of three days, or everyone will be killed.
I love horror and gory stories, those have always been my favorite. With this book, I couldn’t put it down and when I was done with it, I didn’t want it to end. I ended up running over to the librarian (I finished the end of it at the library because crazy Microfilm guy was there) and asked her to find me more books like this one, but sadly, she couldn’t.
Battle Royale and Stephen King’s The Long Walk both get my ‘Damn That Was Good’ award for books. ![]()
