Picking Up Girls in Grocery Stores
I went with my friend to the grocery store last night. He was asking me where he can go to meet people, and I said try the grocery store.
I’ve had guys approach me in there, but they usually make some cheesy comment about how I’m buying ’single’s’ food. Which usually consists of frozen tv dinners, and items made for a single serving.
So I went with my friend to the grocery store and the real reason we went there was to visit his cousin, who was working security there.
Security at a grocery store? Yes, in this area, it is required.
So we get there, and I’ll admit, this isn’t the location I would pick out for him to meet anyone, but since he cousin was there, we had fun anyways.
We didn’t end up seeing one woman that would qualify as a potential ‘girlfriend’ for him. Most were carting around kids, or carting around boyfriends/husbands.
I explained to him that this was just the first time we’ve done this, and to not get discouraged. Plus, I told him we need to pick a grocery store in a better area; one that doesn’t require a bulletproof vest to walk around in.
So we will try again, in another location and I will report the results back on this venture. My guess is that he will see a girl he likes, and then use some lame pick-up line to flirt with her in a grocery store. I’m going to try not to let that happen.

I don’t know about being hit on in a grocery store. . . I’ve had men ask me for my number outside of a laundromat and a gas station before, and it just didn’t feel very safe. Once I was walking to work, and some guy stopped his car next to me and handed me his business card and said ‘call me!’
I felt quite weirded out by all of the above - but one time that I thought was kind of sweet/funny was a day I was wearing a sweatshirt and jeans and had gotten soaked in a rainstorm earlier that day. I stopped at this unique sign store, and they had the movie “Armageddon” playing in the background. I talked to the clerk for a few minutes, and he ended up giving me a business card with his email address on it.
The main difference there was that he wasn’t a random stranger stopping me, but a specific stranger I had initiated an interaction with.
It’s true! My mom walked into a grocery store with her boyfriend - at that time - and he introduced my mom to my dad. So you can meet people there. =)
