Third Dates and Guns

Went on another date last night with this current guy. He took me to a shooting range.

I haven’t been to one of those in over 13 years - the last time I went was in high school for my Outdoor Education class. So when he asked if I’d like to go with him there,  I said sure, since I’ve done it before.

When he came over to pick me up, he gave me some tips and showed me how to load and shoot a gun. As I was watching this, I got nervous and told him I didn’t want to shoot, I’d just watch him.

So we get there, I watch him shoot a few times, then he asks if I want to. Fine, I’ll try it. He gave me some more quick pointers on how to hold the thing, and then it was my turn.

I’m not sure if I hit the ceiling or the far back wall, but I sure didn’t hit the target. In fact, I wasn’t prepared for the gun to push me back a little as soon as I fired it. So I got scared again, and handed it to him right away.

I watched him a few more times, he hit the target every time. I tried again, missed again. Now there were only two bullets left and he asked if I wanted to shoot again, so I said sure. The first one I missed and the gun jammed, or misfired, whatever you call it. (I’m not too hip on gun terminology).

So on the very last shot….I actually hit the target! It was so exciting, and I brought the target home with me with the one shot I made.

What a souvenir. I so want to go back.
