Seatbelts and Milkshakes
So, my sister and I were driving around the other day. She drove me around to show me some condos she was interested in looking at. It was the night before St. Patrick’s Day and we noticed two motorcycle cops pulling tons of people over. (We had driven down the road a few times to check these condos out).
So I decided that I wanted a peanut butter milkshake, and we stopped to get one in the drive-thru.
After she pulls out, we see these two motorcycle cops on the side of the road talking to each other. She passes them, and 10 seconds later says that she thinks we are getting pulled over.
For what?!? I wondered.
So we get stopped, and the officer informs us that her front headlight is out.
And he also mentions that I don’t have my passenger seatbelt on.
Great.
He ends up giving my sister a warning for her headlight, yet proceeds to write me a ticket for not having my seatbelt on. He said they were specifically out tonight on a grant to catch people not wearing their seatbelts.
Damn my sister for having a headlight that was out. But in her defense, she had no clue and was even paranoid driving me home for fear of getting stopped again.
So all in all, that put a damper on our evening and we just ended up going home early.
I have no idea how much a passenger seatbelt ticket is, and I’ve been calling for 2 days to find out, but they still don’t have my ticket on file yet.
The cop also told my sister that he could have given her a ticket too because I wasn’t wearing my seatbelt and that she’s responsible for everyone in her car.
*sigh*
